Week 12 Service Academy Football Predictions

U.S. Flag

Army absolutely thumped Bucknell in a game that the Black Knights could have won by as many points as they wanted. Air Force took care of business against Colorado State in a game we will get to in a very short moment.

Week Results: 2-0. The winning ways continue.

Closest Pick: Well. It is time to retire. We only went and NAILED the result of the Air Force game up in Fort Collins. The prediction was Air Force 35, Colorado State 21. Final score on Saturday was Air Force 35, Colorado State 21. Time to go and buy that lottery ticket!!!

Season Results: 17-9 (65.4%). Last week I was at (62.5%).

Air Force @ Nevada – Air Force gets Nevada the week after they lost to San Diego State, a big loss for the Wolf Pack in the West Division. Air Force needs to go 2-0 to have a shot at passing Utah State in the Mountain Division, so there is plenty on the line here with two 7-3 programs facing off. The 311 yards rushing per game the Falcons crank out – the most in the FBS – will need to be about at that level here, because Nevada throws for 374 yards per game behind NFL-ready quarterback Carson Strong. Air Force MUST control tempo and I think they will fall a touch short. Nevada 34, Air Force 28.
Navy vs. East Carolina – The 2-7 Mids still feel way better than that record suggests. They host the 6-4 Pirates here and would love to reverse a trend that has seen Navy lose games against conference powerhouses Houston, SMU, and College Football Playoff hopefuls Cincinnati by one possession each time. The Mids were bad to start the season, but with a little more luck this is a 5-4 team at worst. They finally get some luck here. Navy 34, East Carolina 21.
Army vs. UMass – UMass is really not very good. The Minutemen went up 10-0 on Maine last weekend, before giving up 35 straight and losing 35-10 to the Black Bears of the FCS. Army, meanwhile, was beating up FCS foe Bucknell 63-10. The Black Knights will do what they want on the ground in this one and don’t be shocked to see close to 400 yards rushing in a completely dominant win. Army 58, UMass 13.
