The 5-foot-10, 165-pound signal caller from Westchester County verbally committed to Navy’s Sean Magee and Justin Davis on Sunday, August 17th, the night before his first practice of his senior season.

“I got to see how beautiful (Navy) is. I saw how the academy builds you up as a man and the opportunities you’ll have after college. The visit was huge for me because I got to talk to the players and found out they were just like me. You don’t necessarily have be from a military family. There’s a lot more to the academy than meets the eye. The visit allowed me to see a different aspect of the academy. They’re not just there marching around. There are so many options for the Midshipmen. That’s what really sold me. I didn’t really know at first and going there eased not only my mind but my parents mind as well.

As a senior in 2014, Coleman had 1036 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, a 62% completion percentage, 611 rushing yards, and 9 rushing touchdowns. He was named first team All-League, second team All-County, second team All-Area (Westchester), All-Metro honorable mention, Hudson Valley 100, Con Edison Player of the Week, a member of the Golden Dozen featuring Westchester’s Best Football Scholar-Athletes, recipient of the CHSFL Monsignor Peter’s Scholar Athlete Award, and Offensive MVP of the Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders.

“(Navy) sees me being able to do many of the same things Keenan Reynolds does in the offense, which intrigued me because he’s one of my favorite players. They just felt like a was a great overall fit with my athleticism and ability to make plays. I love Coach (Ivin) Jasper. He’s a down-to-earth, people-guy, who has played the quarterback position. They say no one is better at teaching the triple option than him. He told me he’s not the type of coach to scream and yell, that he’ll come up to you and explain why that happened the way it did. I like that.”

Coleman held additional offers from Army, Davidson, Harvard, and Yale. The son of Vanessa and Arthur Coleman, Coleman has two siblings, Kristiana and Alex. Coleman carries a 4.0 grade-point average at Archbishop Stepinac. He has a direct appointment to the Naval Academy.
